J’ai eu la confirmation que j’était bien le seul au monde à avoir fait des vidéos, dans les vagues en supfoil, avec un foil singlewing (ou monoaile). C’est donc bien une première !

I had confirmation that I was the only one in the world to have made videos, in the waves in supfoil, with a singlewing foil (or monoail). So this is a Premiere!

D’autres ont déjà utilisé le principe de foil stabless ou monofoil, mais c’était toujours en kite. Il y avait biensûr Philippe Caneri, Sergio Horst, Oyvind Nostdal. Depuis peu Deltafoil s’y est mis, mais ils n’ont qu’une vidéo de leur test derrière un bateau.

Others have used the principle of foil stabless or monofoil, but it was still in kite. There is of course Philippe Caneri, Sergio Horst, Oyvind Nostdal. Recently Deltafoil got started, but they only have a video of their test behind a boat.

Le point commun parmi toutes ces vidéos est l’excellente maîtrise des riders. Paradoxalement, j’ai l’avantage de ne pas avoir un très bon niveau ; je peux donc témoigner de la facilité d’utilisation et des avantages pour un rider de base. C’est simple, je suis devenu meilleur dès que j’ai testé le premier prototype de 1500cm2.

The common point of all of these videos is the excellent level of the riders. Paradoxically, I have the advantage of not having a very good level; so I can attest to the ease of use and the benefits for a basic rider. It’s simple, I got better as soon as I tested the first prototype of 1500cm2.

Le foil singlewing est légèrement différent, car il comporte, tout de même, une partie stabilisatrice au niveau de la «queue» où vient se fixer le mat. Il y a suffisamment de surface pour avoir une bonne conduite et reste assez fin pour supprimer toutes la trainée d’un fuselage et d’un stabilisateur. La glisse est impressionnante et la vivacité un vrai régal, je n’utilise que ça.

The singlewing foil is sa bit different, because it has a stabilizing part at the «tail» where the mast is fixed. There is enough area for good drive and remains thin enough to remove all of the drag from a fuselage and stabilizer. The gliding is impressive and the liveliness a real good, I only use that, now.

Les premiers tests étaient derrière un jet, à Hendaye en Mars (la première vidéo est le tout premier test). Il n’a fallu que quelques sessions et réglages pour avoir un foil stable et vif.

The first tests were behind a jet, at Hendaye in March (the first video is the very first test). It only took a few sessions and adjustments to have a stable and lively foil.

Début août, faute de vent et de vague, nous avons fait une session test avec Benoît, moniteur de kitesurf et de Stand-Up-Paddle à l’école HAPPYKITE SCHOOL à Quiberon. Après avoir changer ses appuis de kitefoiler, il a très rapidement trouvé ses marques et volé parfaitement. Merci beny.

At the beginning of August, due to the lack of wind and wave, we did a test session with Benoît, kitesurf and Stand-Up-Paddle instructor at HAPPYKITE SCHOOL school in Quiberon. After changing his kitefoiler stance, he very quickly found his balance and flew perfectly. Thanks beny.

Outre le fait que le foil singlewing ait des qualités de glisse incomparables, il est aussi plus léger, plus solide et plus facile à transporter. 2020 sera peut être l’année de lancement d’une petite production.
